Yard 46, 46 Branthwaite Brow, Kendal, LA9 4TX have now been awarded the prestigious Good Food Award for 2019. Over the last twelve months we have evaluated customer feedback and these premises have demonstrated exceptional levels of food quality, service and value when compared to our industry benchmarks in their category.
In recognition of this achievement they have been duly awarded the 2019 Good Food Award.
Born from years of dreams at the family kitchen table, inspired by chefs and artisans that have created simple dishes from exceptional produce. Yard 46 opened its doors on October 10th, 2017. Kendal, a market town on the gateway to the Lake District, offers a lot of traditional fare, we wanted to do something different, and offer exciting dishes for daytime lunch, competitively priced in unique surroundings.
Yard 46, previously known as Emma’s Café, has been a tearoom for the last 18 years, and had a very established clientele, we knew it was going to be tough to change the norm, however, we stuck with our guns and have created a strong following of regular customers and we welcome new customers every day from far and wide who have either followed us on social media or have travelled because of recommendations from customers who have dined with us.
We are entering our second year at Yard 46, and our vision hasn’t changed, ‘creating memorable experiences’ has been at the forefront, ensuring that every single customer that leaves our café, leaves with a memorable delight, whether that being the food we create, the coffee we serve, the friendly service or the inspirational décor we have carefully created.
With the support of Lovingly Artisan, we are now fully self-sufficient with our bread, we make our own ciabattas and different style rolls, alongside our sourdough bread which is available to buy to take away.
We have carefully selected our suppliers to ensure that our produce is unique and created with the same passion we instill ourselves. We use suppliers that we can get to know so that we can give a background on the dishes we serve. We generally serve a brunch / lunch style menu, offering a twist on many modern dishes, for instance, our poached eggs are served with wilted spinach on our own super grain sourdough toast, finished with a gruyere cheese truffle sauce and Spanish chorizo. Our specials change weekly, a prime example is our homemade Ras el hanout spiced bread roll with olives filled with slow cooked Lamb shoulder, and our house smoky beans with poached eggs on toasted sourdough.
Customer interaction and satisfaction is the key to our success, we encourage our team to get to know our customer base, we listen to feedback to ensure that we stay ahead of the game.
We also offer many bespoke evenings, which our historic surroundings allow us to create a unique atmosphere. We have built a woodfire oven in our courtyard, where we serve sourdough pizzas, these evenings have become very popular, and are generally fully booked well in advance.
Our ratings across social media sites, speak for themselves, we always make sure our team know exactly what is happening on every table, and ensure that communication is the key to success. At the time of writing, we currently have 27 Google, 65 Facebook, 43 TripAdvisor reviews all with a 5 star rating, and 1 TripAdvisor with a 4 star rating. 667 followers on Facebook, and 951 followers on Instagram.
